Last summer, the LTCFC were contacted by the parents of a young lad by the name of Ziyon who was born with Diplegic Cerebral Palsy, a disability characterized by frequent spasms which affects the joints and tensing of the leg muscles reducing the overall range of motion. Ziyon’s parents were going to climb Mount Snowdon to raise funds for a specialised custom-built Tomcat trike to aid his mobility. They successfully completed their climb in 8 hours which was amazing, but although they raised an incredible sum of money, they were still short of the sum they needed, so they asked if we could help them out. With our donation they were able to go ahead with the purchase of the trike and have enough funds to buy some parallel walking bars too.
We contacted Ziyon’s mother Shannon after they had taken delivery of the trike. Shannon said “Ziyon is doing very well at the moment and he absolutely loves his trike. We have been working very hard with his physiotherapy, and the parallel walking bars have been a massive help whilst doing this at home during lockdown.”
Ziyon is due another check-up in May, we wish him well and hope to hear more good news about his progress then.
