In late summer 2023, the LTCFC were contacted by the parents of a young lad by the name of Sebastian, who needed our help. Sebastian, who is now 4 years old, had suffered a stroke in utero and had developed hydrocephalus. When he had his first shunt inserted, he unfortunately caught an infection and was in and out of ITU for 4 months. Sebastian is non-mobile, non-verbal, severely sight-impaired and has epilepsy. He also has a heart murmur and scoliosis of the spine, however despite all of these difficulties he is a very happy, smiley boy.
We were extremely pleased to purchase a custom-made trike for Sebastian, to help him get out and about, and have some fun with his sisters. We were also very happy to have him as a guest at our recent Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and we hope that Sebastian and his family enjoyed this event.
We are so pleased to see Sebastian cycling around on his new trike now, and we continue to wish him well and look forward to future updates.
