On Tuesday 7th July 2009, the committee of the London Taxidrivers’ Charity for Children were invited to attend the morning assembly at Underhill Junior School, Mays Lane, Barnet, where a cheque in the amount of £555.60 was presented to the fund’s Hon. Secretary, Malcolm Shaffron. Also in attendance from the committee were Susan Angel, Paul Barber and Raymond Levy.
On 19th May 2009 the LTFUC had taken children from Underhill Junior School on a trip to Woburn Safari Park and Naz Goddard, the Head Teacher, said they were indebted to the LTFUC for giving them this opportunity and that this donation was to show the appreciation of the parents, teachers and carers for taking the children on the outing.
On arrival at the assembly hall, the committee were greeted with loud cheers and clapping from the 240 children present and some of the children read out their memories of the day. A large screen displayed many lovely pictures taken on the trip and before leaving we were taken to every classroom at the school, in order for all the children to say goodbye.
The LTFUC are deeply grateful to Naz and everyone at the school for the kind hospitality shown to us and we thank everyone who contributed to this kind donation and hope to take the children out again in the future.
