Many of our supporters will know that Michael Son BEM has been a dedicated member of the London Taxi Drivers’ Charity for Children (LTCFC) committee since 1985. Over the years, he has taken on various roles, including an outstanding nine-year tenure as Chairman. Having decided to step down from his position, committee member Antony Moore was invited to consider taking on the role. After thoughtful deliberation, he graciously accepted, stepping forward to lead one of the most respected children’s charities.

Antony Moore Michael played a pivotal role in securing royal patronage for the charity, initially inviting the then Duchess of Cornwall to become Patron of the LTCFC. She accepted, which was a great honour for the charity. Now, as Queen, Her Majesty continues to support our mission.
Recently, Michael informed the Queen and her Private Secretary of the committee’s leadership transition. Michael and Antony were extended an extraordinary invitation to tea with the Queen at her private quarters in Clarence House. The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce Antony and engage in an informal discussion about the charity’s history, achievements, and future aspirations, including 2028, which will mark 100 years of helping children. After a warm and engaging conversation for about 30 minutes, just as they prepared to leave, the Queen presented Michael with a special gift. This deeply meaningful gesture reflected her appreciation for his decades of dedication.
