On Sunday 30th October 2011 the LTFUC held their fourth annual ‘Fun Day’ at the Covent Garden Piazza and what a brilliant day it turned out to be. It was mild, dry and overcast, but made brighter by all the tourists and people visiting our stands, especially the children whose faces were covered with great big smiles when cuddling and having photos taken with our brilliant Furry Tail Folk.
How can we thank the four wonderful members of the Furry Tail Folk enough? They worked tirelessly all afternoon doing a brilliant job entertaining the children and having hundreds of photos taken with them, all of which helped us to receive some great donations and we are deeply grateful to them.
Much appreciation also goes to Doug Cheshire of the London Vintage Taxi Association, who along with his Vintage taxi helped us to collect donations from the many tourists present anxious to take photos.
We are also deeply grateful to Christopher Gillott of Star789 Limited who came along with his wife Michelle to promote and sell signed copies of his newly released book called Nelson ‘n’ Deckand Friends, which is the first of his forthcoming series of children’s adventure stories all about making London fun for kids and we thank him for donating his takings to us and for supporting our charity and hope he has great success in the future.
We also thank Doreen Golding, the Pearly Queen of the Old Kent Road and Harry Mayhead, the Pearly King of Bow Bells, for coming to join us at Covent Garden and for tirelessly having so many photos taken with the many tourists who were thrilled to meet them.
As we had been at the Piazza since 8am, the committee and helpers left for home feeling very tired and exhausted, but thrilled and delighted that the day had been such a great success.
The Hon. President, Hon. Chair and committee extend our grateful thanks to Covent Garden Management for enabling us to be there, making many more people aware of our charity and the work we do.
